Women in History: Anais Nin

Anais Nin wrote novels, critical studies, essays, short stories, erotica, and journals spanning more than 60 years. She is considered by many critics as one of the best writers of female erotica and as one of the first women to fully explore the genre. Her journals are also considered some of her most important works, sixteen of which have been published so far.

In 1974, she was elected to the United States National Institute of Arts and Letters in 1974. Two years later, she was presented with a Los Angeles Times Woman of the Year award.

Anais, we honor your creative work and contribution to the arts! For more inspiring stories of women throughout history, go here.
